Born in Baltimore, MD, Robert’s interest in aviation started at an early age. During the early years of his life he built scale and flying models of planes of the 1930s and 40s. Recently, expanding into the Jet Age.
Graduating the Rhode Island School of Design (R.I.S.D.) in 1980 where he earned his B.F.A. in Illustration, Robert worked for advertising agencies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In 1986 Robert founded the Independent Pencil Company illustration studio. In 1998 he made the transition to fine art specializing in historical aviation art.
His paintings are on permanent display at the Plum Island Aerodrome, the WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater, TX, the American Heritage Museum and private collections throughout the country. His painting "Hurricane Scramble" received an Award of Merit at the 2009 CAE SimuFlite "Horizons of Flight" aviation art exhibit and the ASAA Thunderbird Award in 2010.
He is currently working with the Collings Foundation in on the “Wings of Freedom” national tour, the American Heritage Ordinance Museum.
