Jim Horan grew up around airfields. His father, an aircraft mechanic and electrician, worked at several Air Force bases during and after World War II. Horan often visited the bases for air shows. After graduation from Bellevue (Nebraska) High School, near Offutt Air Force Base, Horan attended the University of Omaha and graduated from the Omaha Art School. He also has a private pilot’s license. Jim worked for 25 years for the Omaha World-Herald newspaper as an editorial artist and illustrator. He has paintings on display at the Strategic Air and Space Museum. He has been an ASAA member since 1993.
